Ambience

spent a couple hours at the high-end department store Lane Crawford last weekend... i rarely venture into this store alone... it has this shield of glitz and glamour that protects itself from the filth on the streets... it makes a person who can't afford the stuff inside to feel out of place...feel small to be precise...

for me, a twenty-something... - i timidly followed my parents.... and in keeping with previous experience - the young/casual wear dept is filled with rather high end fashion that would look great on a 20-30 yr old but with a price tag the average working 2x-3x could never afford, well obviously it takes a rather special 2x-3x to hav such a disposable income - or the average Joe to spend all his wages on clothes, either way - its for show - and this corner is not short of that wow-factor..the bright/ showy/ impractical outfits r stylishly dressed on the manequins and screaming at u 'this is THE stuff' ...having a rather humble/ dull/ lazy/ wardrobe myself, it was a litte too difficult to comprehend this wt some people choose to wear. i do think that nice clothes makes people feel great - but maybe too great in this instance...

moving on...somehow someone smooth talked to me abt sunglasses - i was partly at fault to hav laid my eyes on a pair of glasses for more than 5 seconds, attracting the salesman to come over...- i started trying - rayban....blablabla. and many others i dun know - most are flamboyant in style - normal sunglasses protects ur eyes - these carefully sculpted pieces frames one's face and i feel make people want to see wt lies behind the shades... (if u hav a nice face n physique that can pull off the look - its just like clothes i suppose.)

the brands they stock are obviously carefully sourced from the world, with designers who has no intention of tailoring their clothes for the hot / humid summers that most hongkongers has to bear in the summer - and like many other retailers temperature inside the store makes one feel like u r still in autumn - hence u convince urself that u need the 'layers' - or ever more so likely to over estimate the versatility of an item of clothing....which in my humble opinion just complements the super-cool air-con culture in hk

its stylish, its pompous, its lane crawford...
